A new projection says Governor Jeff Landry's recent tax reforms will wipe Louisiana's expected $600 million budget deficit in the year ahead.

Louisiana's Revenue Estimating Conference panel stated Thursday that drastic cuts to health care services and higher education won't be needed.

The Louisiana Legislature passed Landry's tax plan last month, cutting individual and corporate income taxes by more than a billion dollars in the next fiscal year.

That reduction is expected to be more than offset by a hike in the sales tax rate.
