The city of New Orleans is accepting bids for a pair of contracts to clear abandoned vehicles from the streets.

The first contract would hire a vendor to remove the vehicles and inventory the city's junk vehicle storage lot on Almonaster Avenue. The second contract would hire a company to auction the junkers off.

City officials have received thousands of requests to clear the vehicles from the streets.

Bidding for the contracts will be open until late January.
