Mayor LaToya Cantrell plans to seek expert opinion about the city's planned installation of new traffic barriers on Bourbon Street.

Two industry experts reportedly said the type of bollards the city plans to install prior to the Super Bowl aren't rated to withstand a truck attack like the one that killed 14 people and injured dozens more on New Year's Day.

Security plans for Super Bowl LIX and Mardi Gras have been in the works for months with the help of the FBI, ATF, Homeland Security, state and local police, and other agencies.

Cantrell didn't say whether she plans to seek government, military, or civilian advice.
