New vehicle barriers are being placed on the streets of the French Quarter ahead of the Super Bowl.
A contractor unloaded the steel wedge barriers on Monday for placement on Bourbon Street between Iberville and St. Ann. The barriers will block vehicle access when the wedge is up.
With the Super Bowl just around the corner and Mardi Gras not far behind, city officials want to improve security in order to prevent another incident like the Bourbon Street terrorist attack on New Year's Day.
