Gov. Jeff Landry and other Republican leaders say Louisiana can withstand President Donald Trump's federal spending pause, if it takes effect.

A federal judge temporarily blocked Trump's order to pause federal grants and loans. Trump issued the executive order to make sure federal spending is consistent with his other recent orders.

The pause is intended to last until February 10, and it doesn't affect student loans, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, or food stamps.

The judge put the order on hold until Monday.
