A series of building collapses late last year is prompting New Orleans City Council members to bring in outside help.
In a joint meeting of the Quality of Life and Economic Development committees on Wednesday, council members voted unanimously to permit the council to choose an engineering consultant.
The motion will need the approval of the full council at today's meeting.
Three buildings partially collapsed in the Lower Garden District, Central Business District, and Central City over the past several months.
