Louisiana will start using nitrogen gas to carry out executions.

Gov. Jeff Landry say this will pave the way for death sentences that have been delayed, due to a nationwide shortage of lethal injection drugs.

The state has not executed a prisoner in fifteen years.

Louisiana is now the fourth state to allow this type of execution, joining Alabama, Mississippi and Oklahoma. It's only been tried, though, in Alabama.
