A special election is scheduled for next month to fill a vacant seat on the Jefferson Parish Council.

Former District 1 council member Marion Edwards retired a year into his term. Republicans Ricky Templet and Tim Kerner Jr. are running to replace him, along with Democrat Andrea Manuel.

Templet is a former District 1 councilman. Kerner is the mayor of Jean Lafitte. Manuel ran unsuccessfully for the Louisiana House of Representatives in 2023.

Former state representative Joe Marino is the interim District 1 councilman.

The special election will take place on March 29.
