Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill is suing Orleans Parish over its "sanctuary" policies.

The federal lawsuit challenges a 2013 consent decree that prohibits Orleans Parish deputies from honoring most ICE detainer requests or sharing detainees' immigration status with federal authorities.

The sheriff's office is allowed to comply with ICE warrants only in cases of murder, rape, kidnapping, armed robbery, or treason.

Murrill's suit says Louisiana law now requires cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.
