The New Orleans City Council is joining the NOLA Public Schools lawsuit against the Cantrell administration for backing out of a school funding agreement.

The school board is trying to enforce the agreement made last November, but Mayor LaToya Cantrell's office claims she didn't agree to the terms of the deal.

The agreement would give schools $20 million to help close a budget gap.

A civil court judge will consider the council's motion to join the lawsuit next Thursday.
