Louisiana has two new state senators.

State Representative Larry Selders won the race for the District 14 State Senate in Saturday's election. Selders defeated fellow Democrats Carolyn Hill and Quentin Anthony Anderson.

The Bator Rouge-area seat became vacant when Cleo Fields was elected to the US Congress. Selders had Fields' endorsement.

Brach Myers won the election for the District 23 State Senate seat, defeating fellow Republican Jesse Regan. That district is in the Lafayette area.
