New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick is reporting a decrease in the city's overall crime rate.
Kirkpatrick says the NOPD investigated 124 murders last year, a 35-percent drop from 2023.
She added non-fatal shootings and carjackings also fell by double-digit percentages, leading to a 26-percent decrease in crime.
Theft and rape both increased by single digits.
Kirkpatrick credits proactive policing for the good results, and especially gives credit to the state police in Troop NOLA.
