New Orleans will still have parades on Mardi Gras Day, but there will be some changes due to the threat of gusty winds and severe weather later in the day.
Zulu will now roll at 6:30 a.m., with Rex to follow.
Also, both parades will have shortened routes. Zulu will disband at Poydras and not roll through Treme, while Rex will not pass Gallier Hall, instead ending after turning on Jackson.
Marching krewes and truck floats will not be allowed and all parades will need to be off the streets by Noon.
New Orleans Police added that if conditions are unsafe due to higher winds than anticipated, parades will be cancelled.
Also, all tents or tarps should be picked up after tonight's parades. They will not be allowed on parade routes tomorrow.
The decision came hours after Jefferson Parish canceled their Mardi Gras Day parades due to concerns over the weather.
