Protesters are calling on New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell to honor a $90 million deal to fund the city's public schools.

School teachers and members of various organizations demonstrated on the steps of City Hall on Thursday.

Cantrell's administration and the school district celebrated the deal in a joint news conference in November.

But Cantrell backed out of the deal last month, at a time when the school district is struggling with a budget shortfall caused by a $36 million overestimation of revenue.
