Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill says she'll appeal after a federal judge blocked the state from executing an inmate with nitrogen gas.

Jessie Hoffman was set to be executed on March 18 for the murder of Molly Elliot.

Louisiana recently adopted the use of nitrogen gas as a means of execution because of the shortage of lethal injection drugs.

The judge says the defense may have a point that the new method violates the Eighth Amendment's ban on cruel and unusual punishment.
