The state legislature will have to find another way to pay for raises for Louisiana's teachers, since voters rejected Amendment 2 on Saturday.

The amendment would have made permanent the annual $2,000 stipends for teachers and $1,000 stipends for support staff.

Gov. Jeff Landry didn't include the stipends in his executive budget, in hopes that the amendment would pass.

Voters said no to all four of the proposed constitutional amendments on the March 29 ballot.
