Dr. Fateama Fulmore is the new superintendent of NOLA Public Schools.
The school board voted her into the position at a meeting on Wednesday.
Fulmore had been serving as interim superintendent since the resignation of Dr. Avis Williams last December.
Williams stepped down after a discrepancy in school funding estimates left the district with a $36 million budget gap.
The district is in a legal battle with Mayor LaToya Cantrell after she backed out of a deal to provide the district with funding assistance.
