New Orleans Police arrested an armed suspect after an hours-long standoff in the French Quarter this morning.

NOPD says the suspect was wanted in connection with a deadly double shooting on Rousselin Drive where the bodies of two victims were found shortly before 1 a.m.

Around a half-hour later, officers responded to reports of an armed white male in the 900 block of Royal Street.

The standoff lasted for over four hours. The suspect reportedly fired once towards officers, and the NOPD says one of its officers may have fired a shot as well. No one was injured.

"The NOPD Public Integrity Bureau’s Force Investigation Team will investigate the officer discharge aspect of the incident," the department said in a press release.

The suspect, who has yet to be identified, was taken to a nearby hospital. Once he's released, he'll be booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
