New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell's administration claims the city's finances are stable.

Administrative and financial officers reported to the city council on Thursday that the city needed to adjust its spending because of several factors, including reduced tax revenue and the end of federal pandemic funding.

Two months ago, Cantrell's administration told the council the city's finances were unstable to the point that it was unable to honor a $90 million settlement deal agreed to with the Orleans Parish School Board.
