The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans says pumps at two key drainage stations went offline during Monday's heavy rains.
Two pumps in Gentilly were out of service for about ten or 20 minutes, starting around 4:30 p.m. At the same time, a pump in the Lower Ninth Ward went offline for about 40 minutes.
The failures contributed to widespread street flooding in parts of New Orleans.
