A New Orleans police officer faces termination after pleading guilty on Tuesday to a charge of malfeasance in office.
Korey Jones repeatedly used a city-issued gas card to fill the tank of his personal Jeep.
He faced up to ten years in state prison, but the plea deal got him a one-year suspended sentence and a year of supervised probation.
Jones will avoid jail time if he keeps out of trouble for a year and pays more than $700 in court costs and restitution to the city.
Jones's termination hearing is scheduled for next week.
