The Louisiana House is considering a bill to require insurance coverage for a rare neurological disorder that affects children.

The condition causes a child's immune system to attack the brain, resulting in severe symptoms such as anxiety, OCD, and even hallucinations and paranoia.

Treatment is expensive and often not covered by insurance.

The Committee on Insurance unanimously approved House Bill 408 on Tuesday, requiring insurance companies to cover the treatments. The bill next goes to the House floor.
