The outcome in an Orleans Parish election on Saturday couldn't be closer as voters approved the ten-year millage renewal for the Sheriff's Office by two votes.

The Louisiana Secretary of State's office puts the final tally at 12,715 voters in favor of the renewal and 12,713 opposed.

Next door in Jefferson Parish, a less cliff-hanging result, as Republican Tim Kerner Jr. wins the District 1 Council race over Democrat Andrea Manuel with 56 percent of the vote to Manuel's 44 percent.
