Officials are identifying a man shot and killed by a New Orleans police officer last Friday outside a Walmart.

The Orleans Parish Coroner says Gregory Williams died of a gunshot wound.

Williams was overdosing in his car when the officer administered Narcan. When he awoke, Williams drove away with the officer still partially inside the car, and hit a pedestrian.

The officer shot Williams in the chest. The car struck several other vehicles before it stopped.

Williams died at the scene. The officer and the pedestrian were hospitalized.
