A new indoor swimming pool is now open in Algiers.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was on Tuesday for the George V. Rainey Natatorium. Mayor LaToya Cantrell was in attendance, along with City Councilman Freddie King and New Orleans Recreational Development Commission CEO Larry Barabino Jr.
They were joined by members of the Rainey family.
The facility was funded by city bonds and FEMA.
The natatorium is named after Algiers native George V. Rainey, an Army vet and businessman.
