A recount confirms the passage of a renewed property tax millage supporting the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office in Saturday's election.

The initial results showed the ten-year renewal passing by only two votes, but the recount on Thursday widened that margin to four votes.

A spokesperson for the clerk of court says the discrepancy was due to a clerical error.

The millage is projected to generate about $13 million a year, or about a fifth of the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office budget.
