A Metairie man is in custody following a police chase across several parishes.

Jefferson Parish deputies tried to stop Travis Umfrey early Saturday on Yale Street near Hudson because his truck had no license plate.

The chase was on, until a spike strip disabled Umfrey's truck on I-55 near Ponchatoula.

Umfrey resisted arrest until a deputy fired a single shot, which missed. He reportedly tried to pull a knife and grab a deputy's taser.

Umfrey is charged with DWI, trying to disarm an officer, and resisting arrest.
