A report says FEMA is not ready for the upcoming hurricane season, according to internal documents obtained by The Hill.
Hurricane season starts June 1 and the document warns the routine readiness process "has been derailed this year due to other activities like staffing and contracts."
FEMA is the federal agency in charge of coordinating responses to disasters and it also helps communities rebuild after they've been hit.
The revelation on the agency's readiness comes as President Trump eyes a move to eliminate the department entirely.
