Funeral arrangements are pending for former New Orleans City Councilman Jay Batt, who died over the weekend.
Batt represented District A from 2002 to 2006.
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, City Council President Helena Moreno, and other city officials sent their condolences.
Batt was also a successful local businessman and the brother of actor Bryan Batt.
His cause of death hasn't been released, but a family friend says Batt died in his sleep on Sunday at age 64. Batt is survived by his wife and two daughters.
