Maintenance Worker Arrested In New Orleans Jail Escape

A maintenance worker is accused of helping ten inmates escape from a jail in New Orleans last week.

The Louisiana Attorney General's Office said Sterling Williams allegedly turned off the water to the cell where the inmates escaped.

Williams claims he did it because one of the inmates threatened to shank him if he didn't.

Video shows the inmates running out of the jail in the middle of the night after breaching a wall behind a toilet.

Four of the ten escapees have been brought back into custody after Gary Price was captured on Monday.

“We will uncover all the facts eventually and anyone who aided and abetted will be prosecuted to the full extent the law allows. I encourage anyone who knows anything and even those who may have provided assistance to come forward now to obtain the best possible outcome in their particular case," said Attorney General Liz Murrill.
