The Port of New Orleans is no longer on the Asia route of a major shipping line

The Mediterranean Shipping Company recently dropped New Orleans from its Lone Star Service route to Asia.

The company says it took the action because of reduced cargo demand resulting from increased tariffs

New Orleans had been one of MSC's three Gulf Coast ports, along with Mobile and Houston

Officials with the Port of New Orleans say ports nationwide are seeing a drop in cargo demand, and they expect MSC's action to be a "temporary pause."
