The Louisiana House and Senate have until June 12 to reach a compromise on the proposed state budget.

The legislature unveiled the $43 billion state budget on Sunday

The GOP-led Louisiana Senate Finance Committee cut $50 million from LA GATOR, Gov. Jeff Landry's school voucher initiative, which is set to launch in the upcoming school year.

The cut leaves $44 million in the program, which will cover the cost of private school tuition for 6,000 students already receiving state-funded vouchers.
