In a dramatic rescue, a Florida woman was saved from captivity after leaving a handwritten note in a sandwich shop bathroom. The note, discovered at a Jersey Mike's Subs in Navarre, pleaded for help and included a nearby address. According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office, the woman indicated she was being held against her will and feared for her life.
The note was found by an employee, Eleanor Coffee, who initially mistook it for trash. "There was this little piece of crumpled up paper that was shoved next to our toilet paper dispenser," Coffee told WPMI. The note read, "Please help me. I'm at this address in Navarre. I need you to call the police and do a wellness check."
Using surveillance footage and other resources, authorities located and rescued the woman. They identified Jordan Williams, 34, as the suspect. The woman reported being assaulted, threatened with weapons, and held in isolation. She had visible injuries, including broken bones, and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Williams has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and false imprisonment, felony and misdemeanor battery, and battery by strangulation. His arraignment is scheduled for June 19.
