The Louisiana Legislative Auditor says the state Department of Health pays millions in Medicaid benefits to people who no longer live in the state.

The most recent report says more than $103 million has been paid to insurance companies to cover more than 22,000 Medicaid recipients who have moved out of state.

In April, the Health Department started using data from the Office of Motor Vehicles to make sure recipients still live in Louisiana.
