The Louisiana Supreme Court is ordering all judges in the state to undergo training on how to run a "trauma-informed court."

The high court issued the order on Wednesday, effective immediately.

Louisiana judges are required to attend a one-hour training session every other year. The Louisiana Judicial College and Louisiana Protective Order Registry will offer the seminars.

The court says the idea is to make sure judges are familiar with the best practices in handling domestic violence cases.
