Burglar Steals Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Gun From His Car

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto is reminding people not to leave guns in their cars, and with good reason.

A burglar broke into Lopinto's truck early Friday morning and stole a gun he'd forgotten to remove.

Surveillance video showed the thief in the act.

Lopinto described the incident in a Facebook post, pointing out that the stolen gun is his personal property, not his service weapon.

The Sheriff's Office says several vehicles in Lopinto's neighborhood were broken into the same night.
