Churchill Downs is reportedly moving to surrender its racing license at the Fair Grounds Race Course.
The company told the Louisiana Racing Commission it wants to give up the license after a series of legal and legislative setbacks.
A court ruled in May that historical horse racing machines violate the state constitution unless voters approve them. Churchill Downs says nearly 75 percent of its in-state profits are generated by the machines.
The state legislature didn't do anything to resolve the situation. The latest session ends Thursday.
