New Orleans taxpayers are on the hook for only a fraction of the cost of Mayor LaToya Cantrell's recent trip to Canada.
Cantrell attended the Big City Mayors Caucus in Ottawa late last month.
Travel expense records show the trip cost just over $4,800 for transportation, meals, and lodging. The conference footed most of Cantrell's bill, with the city paying $320 in a per diem for meals.
Cantrell made the trip during a power outage and a jailbreak. After she returned from Canada, she went to France for a climate conference.
