California Senator Alex Padilla was forcibly removed from a press conference held by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. The incident occurred as Noem addressed the ongoing anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles. Padilla interrupted the event, speaking over Noem, which led authorities to escort him out of the room.

The disruption happened shortly after Noem declared that the DHS would remain in Los Angeles to address what she described as "socialist and burdensome leadership" in the city. Despite the interruption, Noem continued her speech without reacting to the incident.

Governor Gavin Newsom responded on social media, defending Padilla and criticizing the Trump administration. He called the removal "outrageous, dictatorial, and shameful," attributing Padilla's temporary detainment to what he described as "Trump and his shock troops."

Prior to the incident, Padilla had left the Congressional Baseball Game in Washington, D.C., to return to California due to the riots. He was scheduled to play as the starting first baseman.
