Sentencing is in September for a former employee of the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board who pleaded guilty to fraud
Federal prosecutors say Leesa Augustine used her position of senior special agent for the board to commit various acts of fraud.
Augustine fraudulently obtained a mortgage loan, unemployment benefits, and emergency rental assistance, all federally funded.
She pleaded guilty to three counts of wire fraud and one count of making false statements. The charges are punishable by prison time and fines.
