A state senator is challenging U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy in next year's GOP primary.
State Sen. Blake Miguez of New Iberia announced his candidacy on Tuesday. In a campaign video, Miguez accuses Cassidy of not being MAGA enough, mentioning Cassidy's vote to impeach President Donald Trump at the end of his first term in office.
Miguez was elected to the Louisiana Senate last year, prior to which time he was a member of the state House.
