Toxic Contaminants Found In Testing Of Lake Maurepas

Southeastern Louisiana University scientists say there are high levels of contaminants in a Livingston Parish lake.

The Louisiana Illuminator reports SLU researchers found toxic metals in Lake Maurepas beyond the levels considered safe by the EPA.

This comes after the team analyzed hundreds of sediment samples from multiple locations in the lake over a number of months.

Most of the pollution found by the scientists is believed to be the result of industrial work and other human activities.
