Campaign finance reports show City Council vice president Helena Moreno is off to a big early fundraising lead in the race for New Orleans mayor.
Between January 1 and April 4, Moreno raised more than $889,000 and had more than $1.5 million on hand at the end of that reporting period.
The campaigns of City Councilman Oliver Thomas, former judge Arthur Hunter, and State Senator Royce Duplessis lag far behind.
Incumbent Mayor LaToya Cantrell is term-limited and can't run again in the October election.
