Jefferson Parish attorney David Courcelle is President Donald Trump's choice to serve as the next U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

The position oversees nearly 70 federal prosecutors in 13 parishes.

Courcelle has spent more than 20 years practicing law in the New Orleans area. His nomination is considered unusual because he has limited experience as a prosecutor.

Prior to serving as the parish attorney for Jefferson, Courcelle was the city attorney for Harahan.
