Gov. Jeff Landry plans to meet with President Donald Trump's FEMA review council today in New Orleans.

Trump has said he wants to start phasing out FEMA after the 2025 hurricane season. He appointed the review council earlier this year, and today's meeting is their second so far.

U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy is unable to attend today's meeting, but he's been working on reforming FEMA and the National Flood Insurance Program for years.

The Republican says something like FEMA, if not FEMA itself, is helpful after natural disasters.
