The recently enacted "Big Beautiful Bill" includes millions of dollars in new funds for Louisiana's coastal restoration efforts.
The new federal law will increase the offshore oil and gas royalties shared between Washington D.C. and Gulf Coast states.
House majority leader Steve Scalise secured the funding in the bill. The Louisiana Republican says it will mean nearly $50 million a year for the state.
The Louisiana Constitution requires the state to dedicate oil and gas revenues to coastal restoration and hurricane protection.
