A longtime Louisiana health expert says the state's rural hospitals are in no immediate danger from upcoming Medicaid cuts.
Jeff Reynolds is the executive director of the Rural Hospital Coalition of Louisiana, and he advocates for the 49 rural hospitals in 41 parishes.
Democratic lawmakers claim the cuts in the recently passed Big Beautiful Bill will force some rural hospitals to close.
Reynolds says the bill also set up a $50 billion fund for rural health care, and Louisiana will get up to $150 million a year from that fund.
