The St. Charles Parish Council is moving ahead with a $10.5 million drainage improvement plan.
The council voted Monday on an ordinance to approve the CN Railway Drainage Plan, which is designed to end 40 years of flooding along the railroad tracks in Destrehan.
About $6 million of the project's funding is coming from grants.
Construction is scheduled to start this year and take about 12 months to complete.
