Gov. Jeff Landry and Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple are both claiming credit for discounts being offered by GM Insurance.
General Motors started offering the discounts this month for newer GM vehicles using telematic data that track a driver's speed and other driving habits.
Landry claimed the new option resulted from the latest legislative session's efforts at insurance reform. Temple says discussions with GM Insurance started last December, prior to the legislative session.
