A preliminary injunction from the Louisiana Supreme Court will keep IV Waste picking up the trash in the French Quarter.

Wednesday's temporary injunction is in place until a lawsuit filed by a French Quarter business and resident against Mayor LaToya Cantrell can go to trial.

The ruling enjoins Cantrell from directing the city to honor her $8 million emergency trash collection contract with Henry Consulting LLC, which was to have taken effect today.

IV Waste will stay on the job under an earlier emergency contract.
